month: July 2007

Just thought some of you might be interested in learning a little more about me & my fam. Well, if you look on the blogroll to the right here, you will see a link for Always An Adventure With The Thomases. Well, that is my family blog. I have been thinking of combining the two of them, but since that is our family motto, it seems rather appropriate to keep it. So, if you’ve ever wondered, take a look!

Also, I will be out of town for most of the rest of July, but will have my phone with me. So, if you really need to reach me, you can give me a call or email me @ lisa@kiralisa.com. I will be back in town on August 1st.

I spoke with Kelly today and she gave birth to Wyatt on July 5th at around 3 o’clock in the afternoon after a very long day of labor.  Wyatt was 8lbs 12oz and 221/2 inches long!!!!  (Ohhhh, if I got those details wrong, I’m so sorry!  As we talked about earlier on the phone, my memory just isn’t what it used to be!  :)  I really need to remember to write things down more!  Ha Ha!) I can’t wait to meet him when I go to shoot his first of four shoots this next year!  I’m sure he is quite beautiful and sweet just like his mommy and daddy!  Congratulations to you and your family!

I am so excited to finally announce that my maternity gallery is up and running on my website.  There are 4 very beautiful woman on there so far and it was hard choosing.  I really enjoy doing these and will be adding some images from Cayce’s session once I am able to work through them.  Plus, Cayce and I will be in Houston together next week for a photography seminar by David A. Williams (an amazing Aussie photographer) and I am hoping to try some fun new things there with her as well.  So, have a look and let me know what you think!

July 9th & 10th
Blogathon
Go to the through their eyes africa blog at:
www.throughtheireyesafrica.typepad.com
Be a part of history! Today I am participating in the first ever
“blogathon” to raise funds for the through their eyes africa project.
Please go to their blog and give generously today. You
can make a difference to some of the neediest people on earth
in a very unique way, and we need your help.
This project will be sending a group of well known photographers
into a remote part of Africa that has not received any
help yet. The photographers will be mentoring young adults on
how to take pictures so that we can get a look at their society
“through their eyes”. The funds raised from this project will go
right back to the needs of these people. So, please go now and
give at www.throughtheireyesafrica.typepad.com . They need
your donations to make this happen. Remember, what you give
will make a difference in the lives of some of the neediest people
on earth.
Be a part of history. Be part of the solution.
Thank you for your generosity.

This is round two for me with this sweet little girl! She is going to be dedicated soon and her mom wanted some portraits in her dress that her grandma bought for her! She sure looks pretty! :) This little one is loads of smiles and is such an easy baby to make smile. I have to thank my apprentice in training, Olivia (my 7 1/2 year old), for helping us out that day. She has a real interest in photography, so it’s fun to have her there to help! Plus, she is fantastic at being silly and getting babies to smile! :)
So here are my favorites!

So back in May I mentioned that there would be a few changes coming down the pike. Well, you’ve already seen the first one with the new space for consultations and presentations. Today, I updated my pricing and made some changes in my galleries. If you’ve already been with me as a client, you will notice that I no longer include proof books. These are not necessary with the new system of presentations. For some of you that will be a bummer (don’t worry, they’re still available for purchase as story books), but for others it is a good thing, as I was able to lower my price for full sessions.

I am also excited about my new price list to share with new and future clients. Here are a few images of what they look like~

The front:

all the way open:

and, all the way open showing the back:

Unfortunately, the images don’t even do them justice, as they are printed on a beautiful pearl paper- so you will just have to be sure and see them in person! The next change will be coming very soon! I can’t wait for you to see it!

Have a great week!

As you know, I don’t have a studio.  This is partially by choice, as I really like shooting on location.  (If I ever have a studio, it will still be a natural light studio.)  But, I realized that I would like to offer my clients more in way of an experience when meeting with me to view their images and to have a great place to discuss a clients needs.  So, I have a space in Mid-town now!  Hurray!  It’s not entirely finished and I am still waiting for another canvas to arrive to hang, but I thought I would go ahead and show you some pictures.

I look forward to showing it to you all in person!  I would like to have an open house in August, but will have to wait until a little later to firm up a date.  Life is a little whacky right now, but hopefully the routine of school will help that some.  :)
Thanks for taking a look!

Cayce Harris is a friend of mine, as well as a budding photographer in her own right.  She and Jake and I got together on Sunday night to try out some fun lighting techniques while shooting Cayce’s maternity pictures.  So here is a sneak peek at one of my favorites from the night.  I will try to post a few more when I get caught up on my editing this week!
