month: September 2007

For those of you who regularly visit this blog (thank you, by the way) you are probably noticing that things look a little different.  Well, I finally found a template that allows me to customize the pictures up top there, something I’ve been looking for now for quite a while.  The only problem has been that I had to know how to edit CSS, or pay someone who does, in order to customize it.  I will still look to update and customize if more in the future, but I like this look and think I will settle on it for a while.  It also looks like I will get to start posting larger images because of this new setup as well, which is also cool.

You might also see that there is now a separate About Me page (check the links up top) where you can read a little more, well, about me.  You can always read our family blog too, if you’re really jonesin’ for information about me & my family.  I will be changing that one to look like this one over the weekend when I get the chance.

I was inspired this morning to try out some of my new digital papers to create some custom cards with a few of Emma Blake’s images. Just thought it would be fun! (You can read the details regarding Christmas card sessions here.)So, here is what I came up with~

Now I have photographed some cuties before, but you’re going to love this one! She and her family are absolutely adorable! They are such a sweet family and I really enjoyed getting to know them some during our couple of hours together this afternoon! Emma Blake turned one this month, so “Happy Birthday, Emma!” You are precious and I know your mommy & daddy sure do love you a ton!

Here are a few for ya’!

See what I mean? Look at those gorgeous blue eyes!!!

Goin’ for a wagon ride!! Wee!

Playin’ with the pumpkins!

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed today as much as I did! :)

That’s right!  You heard me correctly- Christmas Card Season!  I know it may seem crazy with it still being so warm, but it is time to start planning ahead.  I am already booked to 50% of my capacity for October and I’m gearing up for November.  Many of you have asked about how much it would be to just do your holiday cards.  Because of the demand, I am taking the first weekend in November (Nov. 3rd & 4th) and having a special event.  I will take up to 12 families over Saturday and Sunday at 3 different locations- Shelby Farms (Saturday morning), the Metal Museum (Saturday afternoon) and Downtown (Sunday afternoon).  For $125, each family will have a 30-minute session with me and my assistant and your first set of 24 cards (5×7 cards on fine art paper).  You will 5-10 images to choose from at a purchasing session the following week.  Additional sets of 24 cards may be purchased for $50 each.  I have 28 templates to choose from, but if you would like a one of a kind custom card, you may have that for an additional charge.  These spots will fill quickly, so please be sure to call early.  For 2007 clients, if you would like to have a card made up with an image from a session this year, there will be a $25 set-up fee + $50 per set of 24 cards.  I have mocked up 10 cards to give you an idea of what the templates are like.   Please call with any questions you may have.  I’ll be happy to answer them!

Here are some samples~

Would you love to give the gift of memories to a loved one, but don’t know how to surprise them with a photo session?  How about giving them a gift certificate?  You may now purchase a session for your wife, kids, friends- anyone you think would love to have a Kiralisa session!  They come ready to give as a gift, printed on beautiful pearl paper!  Here are a few images to show you what they will look like~

Recently, I came across a wonderful company that make beautiful jewelry exclusively for photographers!  I have decided that I will begin offering these products beginning October 1st, just in time for the holidays!  These will make great gifts for moms and grandmas, plus there’s even a few items for dad!  What a great way to show off the gorgeous people that you love so much!  If you’d like to take a peek, you can view the majority of their line on their website for Vogel Studio.   I think you will just fall in love with this line!  I will be ordering for myself soon and can’t wait to show you these fabulous pieces!  Have a great day!

I’d say that this year’s telethon was quite a success! Nationally, MDA raised $61,016,855 and locally we raised $813,645!!!! Yahoo! That’s awesome! On a personal, note the portrait that I took for the MDA to use looked great on TV, if I might say so myself! It was very exciting to see something that I had created used in such a wonderful way! Gavin did an awesome job in all of his interviews, so hopefully we’ll see him as the National Ambassador here in a few years! Wouldn’t that be something? :)
Here is the official portrait that the MDA will keep and use~

And here are a few more that were our favorites!

Now, let’s raise some more mulah for this amazing organization during September and October! Remember 15% of my profits from print sales stemming from sessions during those two months will go to the local MDA! Help me help this great cause!
