month: May 2008

Yesterday morning we awoke to a hot and humid Memphis morning.  Summer has finally arrived, but it did not hamper the spirits of Ricky and Misty or their two adorable little boys, Shea & Connor.   We worked as long as the boys would tolerate and ended up in a fountain to cool off!  What good sports!

Here are a few quick favorites…

I love this one-

I don’t usually play around much with textures, but thought I’d give this one a try.  I also added a little cross-processing for those of you who are interested.

And finally, a composite is a great way to group a few favorite images together…

As I get ready to help a friend shoot a wedding, I remembered hat today is the day that Steven Curtis Chapman and his family are saying goodbye to their 5 year-old daughter, Maria.  For those of you who don’t know, on Wednesday evening of this week, their 17 year-old son accidentally ran her over in their driveway.  As a parent, I grieve for them.  I cannot fathom how difficult it must be to hurt so deeply for the loss of a child while at the same time also having to help their older child cope with grief and guilt caused by a tragic accident.

I realize that we do not know what will come tomorrow.  The images I am able to provide for families to pass on to their loved ones and to mark their history in this world are more than just pieces of paper, but cherished memories, encapsulated moments in time of those that they care for so deeply.  It is a privilege indeed.

A few days ago I went out with the very fun couple Michelle and Jeff for her maternity session. We wanted to make some beautiful images and I think we’ve definitely accomplished that! :)
I’ve been pretty busy with family in town, but wanted to get some up as soon as I could. You guys were a blast to work with and I can’t wait to see this baby! I guarantee it’ll be adorable!

And I’ve saved the best for last! Isn’t she absolutely GORGEOUS?????

Last week I photographed a wonderful family, but the main purpose of our time together was to get some new head shots for mom & dad, who are both opera singers. Jennifer has been so patient to see these and I appreciate that! Oh, I also have to mention that they had the coolest, hairless cat I’ve ever seen and we just had to include him! :)
Here is the gorgeous family…

The super cool cat-

And one of the cutest little 2 year-olds on the planet!

See you Friday!

As you can see, I have finally recovered all of my old posts.  However, I did lose the two that had the adorable new shots of Wyatt.  So, here they are again~

I’ve got good news & bad news.  The good news is I have had a tremendous amount of traffic to my website recently.  The bad news is that it has eaten up all of my bandwidth so my website is down until I can switch servers.  Hopefully that won’t take long and I can get everything back up and running soon!  In the meantime, at least the blog is still running!  :)
So, for now you get to see some pictures of my sweet and very funny kiddos!  They love to play in the monkey grass~

I know it’s been a while since I have blogged, but I have been very busy editing for all of the sessions that I had last month and have just recently caught up!  Hurray!  So, in addition to that I have added a new fun feature to the blog.  Just below my bio and picture above, you should see a place where you can subscribe by email and have blog updates sent to you!  I haven’t yet had the chance to try everything that can be done with that particular application, but am looking forward to expanding the ways we can communicate with you!

I am almost fully booked for the month of May and will be having surgery the first week of June, so please be aware that if you are considering a session soon, you should call now to reserve your date.  Another announcement that needs to be made is that prices will be increasing in July upon my return from our family vacation.  If you would like to book a session at current prices (both for session fees and print prices), whether it be for a summer or fall session, call now.  I will honor current prices for any session booked prior to the July 12th price change.

Now, since I have been trying to include images with every post, I thought I would include some extra shots from my two last sessions.

First off is Chelsea, one of my senior ambassadors.  We finished our shoot at the Cordova Skate Park, which is closing at the end of May unfortunately.  She hangs out there with her friends on the weekends, so we thought it would make a great backdrop to some fun shots.  Here are a few favorites that I really like from that part of the shoot.

I love my new friend, the ring flash- it’s what gives the cool look to these shots:

This one just screams Chelsea-

And we thought we’d play with multiple exposures.  Thanks to Travis, who is feature in this next one, Jack, and Colton for letting us use you as props and to Josh, the owner for giving us full run of the skate park for a few hours.  We had a blast!

The other session I thought we would revisit today is Sara Beth’s maternity session.  She’s just too lovely not to post more of!

She and her husband, Nathan, were a blast!

This last shot came from inspiration from another photographer, although I can’t remember who.  I saw something similar a few months back and thought it was a fun idea and that we should give it a try!

So, that’s it for now.  Give me a call if you are thinking of booking for a session soon!  Spots will be filling up with Class of ‘09 seniors very soon and space is limited this summer!
